HISTORY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO COLLEGE

In October 1947, a group of civic-minded individuals of various occupation pooled together their resources for a very laudable endeavor by establishing an e- ducational institution named parent-teacher college(PTC).The aim,as defined in its articles of incorporation and by-laws,is to give elementery, secondary,collegiate, and vocational education,with a non-political and nonsectarian characteristic.The institution formally opened in june 1948 and has since admitted not only children a youth to earn degree,but also men and women already employed who need further educa- tional growth,knowledge and skills to help them advance professionally in their res- pective fields of endeavor.

To attain the aims of the founder's,the school initially offered clasees in the elementary and secondary (day and nigth);and courses in Education,Liberal Arts, Secretarial and commerce in the tiiary level.The firts classes met in a two-storey building at the corner of Apolinar Velez and Claro Recto Streets.Seven years later, after the school's formal opening in 1948,all academic activities were trnsfered to Asok Building at the corner of Tiano Brothers and Gomez strees,cagayan de oro city.

In 1955,a bigger lot situated at Carmen,Cagayan de oro was acquired by the School.A two-storey building was constracted to house the classrooms,the administr- ative officers and laboratory rooms, and was occupied in the same year.

In 1967, the college had complete offering in liberal arts,education,comm- erce,and criminology.In that the same year,the board of trustees changed the insti- tution's name from parent-teacher college (PTC) to Cagayan De Oro College(coc).

In 1970,COC offered full courses leading to Bachelor of Science in civil En- gineering,Bachelor of Science in chemical Engineering,Bachelor of science in Electi- cal Engineering Bachelor of science in Architecture,and Associate in geodetic Engi- neering.

In 1981-1982, the college was authorized to offer Master of Arts in Teaching social studies and Bachelor of sciencein secretarial Adminisrtation.
